What is SoulCollage
What is SoulCollage®?
SoulCollage® is a therapeutic and creative process that uses imagery and intuition to explore your inner world. By creating small collage-style cards, you represent different aspects of yourself, your relationships, and the universal themes that influence your life. These cards become a visual map of your psyche, helping you uncover insights, foster self-awareness, and integrate hidden or fragmented parts of yourself.
This process blends psychology, art, and spirituality (for those who choose to include it) in an open-minded manner and deeply personal way. SoulCollage® invites you to explore your authentic self through imagery, creativity, journaling, and reflection, making it a fun, expressive, and profoundly healing form of therapy.
The Four Suits of SoulCollage®
In SoulCollage®, cards are organized into four suits, each representing different aspects of your inner and outer life:
1. The Committee Suit
This suit represents your inner parts or voices—the aspects of your personality that make up who you are. These can include your Inner Critic, Nurturer, Protector, Creative Self, or any other part that plays a role in your life. This suit aligns beautifully with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, as it allows you to give a voice and image to these parts, helping you build a relationship with them and access your Self-energy.
2. The Community Suit
The Community Suit honors the people, animals, or groups that have influenced and supported you. These cards reflect your external connections, such as loved ones, mentors, pets, or communities that have played significant roles in your life. By creating these cards, you celebrate the relationships that shape you and integrate their impact into your sense of self.
3. The Companion Suit
This suit connects to the energy of your chakras and the animals that intuitively resonate with each energy center. These cards help you explore your physical, emotional, and spiritual energy, integrating body-mind awareness into your therapy. The Companion Suit is a bridge between the physical and symbolic worlds, supporting a deeper connection to your energy system.
4. The Council Suit
The Council Suit represents archetypes and universal energies that guide and influence your life. These cards tap into the rich symbolic language of Caroline Myss's archetypes and Carl Jung’s concepts, such as the Hero, Healer, Shadow, or Seeker. They invite you to engage with larger-than-life themes and forces, providing a lens through which to explore your life’s purpose and spiritual growth.
Integrating SoulCollage® with Therapy
SoulCollage® is a powerful tool that enhances traditional therapy by engaging the right brain through imagery, symbolism, and creativity. It integrates seamlessly with:
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) to create cards to represent your protective and exiled parts, helping you deepen your relationship with them and access your Self-energy.
-
Archetypal Work to explore and embody universal archetypes, connecting with their strengths and challenges in your own life. I get inspiration from Carl Jung and Caroline Myss.
-
Journaling therapy the use of prompts and reflections to process the imagery, uncover insights, and integrate the messages from your cards into your daily life.
For those who choose to include a spiritual perspective, SoulCollage® offers a non-religious, open-minded way to connect with your inner wisdom, higher self, or universal energy. This makes the process adaptable to people from all walks of life and belief systems.

How Many Images Do I Need?
-
We will put the images on 5 x 8 heavy card stock or you can purchase soulcollage cardstock cards
-
Per Card: You’ll likely use 5-10 images per card, depending on your design and layering preferences.
-
Total: To ensure you have options to choose from during the creative process, I would aim to have at least 20-30 images ready. Also! If online and if you have a color printer, what I do is as I'm creating my card I search at pixabay.com as I'm creating my card, so I print exactly what I need at that moment, but it's nice to start collecting images so over time you don't have to search online. I also went on Etsy and purchased a bag of images to get me started - totally worth the investment.
