What it is

Meeting a tender part with curiosity.

This class invites you to become curious about the part of you that carries anxiety, fear, shame, or overwhelm — its protective role, the experiences that shaped it, and what it needs to feel safer. Through intuitive collage-making and reflective practice, you'll build a visual relationship with this part and learn to respond to it with greater understanding, steadiness, and choice.

Art experience is welcome, and so is having none at all — every card is made your own way. The process itself is the practice: noticing what draws you in, what it stirs, and what it has to say. In a group, that discovery deepens as we witness and reflect alongside one another.

The class

A six-week arc of understanding

We begin with an introduction to the process, then move through a different theme each week — each session holding its own focus, reflection, and card-making, building toward a fuller, steadier relationship with the part of you that carries anxiety, fear, shame, or overwhelm.

Week one
Learning to Listen Inward

Introducing the SoulCollage® process and the practice of intuitive inner listening.

+

You'll learn to choose images freely and instinctively, create a card that reflects something meaningful inside you, and use the “I Am One Who…” process to hear the voice and perspective of the image.

We'll also begin practicing how to notice inner experience through the body, emotions, memory, symbols, and intuition. The aim is to let something honest and meaningful emerge, rather than to craft a perfect collage.

You'll leave with your first card and a clearer sense of how this process can help you connect with yourself in a new way.

Week two
Meeting the Part That Sounds the Alarm

Meeting the part of you that becomes activated by anxiety, fear, shame, or overwhelm.

+

You'll create a SoulCollage® card for this part and begin exploring its personality, fears, protective strategies, and messages. You may notice how it appears in your body, your thoughts, your relationships, or the choices you make when you feel stressed.

We'll practice unblending — learning to move from “I am anxious” to “a part of me feels anxious.” This creates a little more space, compassion, and choice.

Week three
Understanding the Story Beneath the Trigger

Exploring the emotional prediction your part may be carrying, and where it began.

+

Anxiety often carries a story underneath it. This class helps you explore the emotional prediction your part may be holding — for example, expecting abandonment, criticism, failure, illness, loss of control, conflict, embarrassment, or being seen as inadequate.

We'll explore where these expectations may have come from and how they continue to show up in current life.

Through collage, writing, and guided reflection, you'll begin to distinguish between what this part learned in the past and what feels true in your life now.

Week four
Building Safety, Support & Regulation

Discovering what actually helps your anxious part feel more supported.

+

You'll create a card representing a source of steadiness, protection, comfort, wisdom, or support — an inner quality, a future version of yourself, a meaningful relationship, nature, spiritual connection, an animal, or a place that helps you feel grounded.

We'll practice several nervous-system tools you can use during moments of activation, including grounding through the senses, longer exhales, self-supportive touch, orienting to the present, and working with the body's stress response — building your own personal menu of practices for returning to yourself when anxiety takes over.

Week five
Helping the Protector Find a New Role

Considering what this part could become with a little more support and trust.

+

Protective parts often work very hard — worrying constantly, criticizing, controlling, avoiding, over-planning, or trying to keep everyone happy, believing that is the only way to stay safe. This week explores what your part might become once it shares the responsibility instead of carrying it all alone.

Through SoulCollage®, guided dialogue, and writing, you'll consider how this part could shift into a healthier role. The anxious planner may become a thoughtful organizer. The shame-based part may become a guide toward values and self-respect. The fearful part may become a careful observer who offers useful information, working alongside you rather than taking over.

The aim is helping this part trust that support is here, so it can settle into a steadier, more balanced way of working.

Week six
Practicing a New Response in Real Life

Applying what you've learned to a real-life trigger, with a plan to carry forward.

+

Our final class focuses on applying what you've learned to a real-life trigger. You'll choose an upcoming situation that tends to activate anxiety, fear, shame, or overwhelm — conflict, uncertainty, health worries, parenting stress, work pressure, social situations, boundaries, or a major decision.

Using your cards, regulation tools, and guided imagery, you'll practice noticing the anxious part, understanding what it fears, offering support, and allowing a more grounded part of you to lead.

You'll leave with a personal plan for working with this part in daily life, along with a collection of cards and written reflections that continue supporting you after the series ends.

Themes are shaped to fit each group's needs and interests.

How this works

A creative path to lasting change.

This class draws on the principles of memory reconsolidation. Old emotional patterns often formed when the nervous system learned that something felt dangerous, shameful, or like too much to handle. When an old fear is activated in a manageable way and met with a fresh, lived experience of safety, support, compassion, or agency, the brain has a real opportunity to update its expectations.

SoulCollage® offers a creative, nonverbal way to bring these inner patterns into view, so they can be understood and cared for in a new way. Each class weaves together SoulCollage® card-making, nervous-system tools, guided exercises, reflection, and practical ways to work with triggers in everyday life.
